The Keohane family have been involved in the construction industry with three generations. Keohane Construction Ltd. A company primarily involved in the farming sector, was taken over by Paddy Keohane in the late 1970’s. In 1979, Paddy founded Keohane Readymix Ltd. in response to a shortage of quality readymix concrete for the construction industry in West Cork. Today, the Keohane group has two readymix plants at Ballygurteen and Innishannon, three sand stone quarries at Dunmanway, Clonakilty and Innishannon plus a very progressive construction company. The group employing well over 100 people, enjoys the services of a loyal, long serving customer focused staff, who are fully trained, reliable individuals. All our employees are trained in Health and Safety and are accredited with the safe pass system.
Keohane Readymix Ltd. has a close ties with the Independent Concrete Manufacturers Association (ICMA). In the early 1980’s, Paddy Keohane together with colleagues in the industry nationally, were responsible for setting up the ICMA, whose primary aim was to improve the design mix and quality of readymix concrete nationwide. This has allowed Keohane Readymix Ltd. to remain at the leading edge from the perspective of the latest developments in design, admixtures, usage and quality. The company is presently an active member of the Irish Concrete Federation (ICF).

In mid 2006, Keohane Readymix Ltd. became the first Independent concrete manufacturer in the republic of Ireland to attain the IS EN 206 accreditation.
